Poor NASA. Half their job these days seems to be marketing their missions to a public whose apathy for space exploration has been increasing steadily since the second after we landed on the moon almost 40 years ago. ‘Phoenix’ is landing on Mars on Sunday, complete with a logo that looks suspiciously like a certain web browser, a summer blockbuster-style trailer, and the phrase “7 minutes of terror” plastered everywhere that accepts press releases. I understand why they have to do it, but it still makes me sad. Can’t landing on Mars be awesome enough on its own?
